Shower Wall Tile Thickness
Simple tiles are 1 4 thick mortar to hold the tiles on is 1 8 thick and the concrete board that you installed around your shower is 1 2 thick.

Sheets are joined in the middle of a wall stud for greater strength. Ceramic can be applied on the floor shower and wall so you don t have to worry about the wall tile thickness allowance and where you can use it compared to other tiles. In contrast ceramic tiles range from 1 4 to 3 8 inch in standard thickness. Thicker and slightly more expensive lines of solid surface or laminated wall panels.
